Understanding Complex Behavior
What Is Behavioral Consultation?
Behavioral consultation is a collaborative, evidence-based approach to understanding and addressing complex behavioral challenges. Rather than applying a one-size-fits-all program, we work with you to understand the full context of the behavior — the person's history, environment, relationships, and goals — and design interventions that actually work in real life.
Our approach is grounded in behavioral science and informed by years of working with teens and adults who have not found success elsewhere. We ask the hard questions, observe carefully, and build strategies that stick.
"Understanding behavior is the first step toward meaningful change."
Our Approach
How Behavioral Consultation Works at Copper Valley
Assessment & Understanding
We meet with you, observe in real-world settings (home, school, community), and gather detailed information about the behavior, its triggers, and its impact.
Collaborative Planning
Working with you, we identify the root causes of the behavior and design practical, evidence-based strategies tailored to the individual and their environment.
Implementation & Coaching
We work directly with the client and coach family members, teachers, and staff on how to implement strategies consistently across all settings.
Data & Progress Monitoring
We track progress systematically to measure what is working, identify what needs adjustment, and make real-time changes to the approach.
Generalization Across Settings
Strategies are designed to work in real life — at home, in the community, at school, or in the workplace. We coach families and schools on how to reinforce progress consistently.
Transition & Ongoing Support
We support clients through major life transitions — whether that means fading services, transitioning to independent living, or stepping into the workforce with confidence.
Who We Serve
Specialized in Complex, High-Needs Cases
We work with teens and adults whose behavioral challenges have not responded to standard interventions — clients with combined diagnoses, significant histories, and high support needs.
Our clinical team has deep experience supporting clients navigating multiple co-occurring diagnoses — including autism spectrum disorder, intellectual disability, anxiety, trauma histories, and behavioral health conditions. We do not shy away from complexity. We lean into it.
Many of our clients are in critical life transitions — aging out of school services, preparing for employment, moving toward independent living, or fading from intensive support systems. These transitions require a clinician who understands both the behavioral science and the human stakes involved. That is what Copper Valley provides.
School & District Partnerships
We Are Vendors for Over 20 Arizona School Districts & Programs
We work closely with schools across Arizona to support students with complex behavioral needs. Our consultants collaborate with teachers, IEP teams, and administrators to design strategies that work in the classroom and generalize to home and community settings.
Whether you are a school administrator, teacher, or parent seeking support through your school, we bring evidence-based behavioral consultation directly into the settings where students spend their time.

Registered Behavior Technician
Your RBT delivers direct support and coaching. They implement strategies in real-world settings, collect data, work with families and school staff, and build consistent, trusting relationships with clients.
You - The Most Important Member
Family and school involvement is not optional at Copper Valley — it is essential. Parents, caregivers, teachers, and support networks are coached throughout the process so strategies work consistently across all settings.
