Why Supervision Matters
The Foundation of a Confident BCBA Career
The quality of your supervision experience shapes the kind of clinician you become. At Copper Valley, we take that responsibility seriously.
Many BCBAs enter the field having supervised primarily in one narrow context - a clinic, a school, or a home-based program. When they encounter the complexity of real-world practice, they find themselves underprepared for the breadth of what the field demands. Copper Valley is designed to change that.
Our supervisees work across multiple service contexts - direct ABA therapy with complex clients, school-based consultation, independent educational evaluations, and systems navigation. This breadth is intentional. We want every BCBA who trains with us to graduate into the field feeling genuinely capable, not just technically certified.
"Gaining supervision at Copper Valley leads practitioners to a multifaceted career in ABA, educational supports, navigating various therapeutic systems, and overall rounded and confident BCBAs."
What You Will Experience
A Supervision Experience Unlike Any Other
Complex Clinical Cases
Work directly with teens and adults navigating combined diagnoses and high-support needs - the kind of complex cases that build real clinical judgment and problem-solving skills.
School-Based Consultation
Gain experience in educational settings - observing, consulting, and supporting school teams - so you understand how behavioral science translates into the classroom.
FBA & BIP Development
Develop your assessment and report-writing skills by participating in independent educational evaluations - a highly marketable skill set that most BCBAs never develop.
Systems Navigation
Learn how to navigate the complex systems that surround your clients - insurance, school districts, behavioral health agencies, and family dynamics - so you can advocate effectively.
Family Collaboration
Develop your skills in working with families - not just clients - so you can build the collaborative relationships that make behavioral interventions actually work in real life.
Transition & Independence Planning
Gain experience supporting clients through major life transitions - into the workforce, independent living, or fading services - a critical and underserved area of the field.
Our Commitment to You
Individualized, Invested Supervision
We take a limited number of supervisees each year - not because we have to, but because we believe supervision done right requires genuine investment in each individual.
Your supervising BCBA will know your strengths, your growth edges, and your goals. Supervision meetings are not checkbox exercises - they are genuine clinical conversations designed to push your thinking, build your skills, and prepare you for the full complexity of the field.
We also support your professional development beyond the supervision relationship - connecting you with resources, opportunities, and the professional network you will need to build a meaningful career in ABA.
BACB Requirements
Meeting BACB Supervised Fieldwork Standards
All supervision at Copper Valley is structured to meet BACB supervised fieldwork requirements. We maintain proper documentation, provide the required percentage of individual supervision, and ensure supervisees gain experience across the full range of BACB task list competencies.
